New Line Dream Up 'A Nightmare On Elm Street' Reboot

A Nightmare On Elm StreetIconic horror characters don’t stay dead for long, and it was only a matter of time until Freddy Kreuger returned to haunt audience’s dreams. It’s been five years since the decently successful but critically maligned reboot starring Jackie Earle Haley, and even longer since Robert Englund‘s turn in "Freddy vs. Jason," so the time has come for a new actor put on the razor gloves.

The Wrap reports that New Line has tapped David Leslie Johnson (“Orphan,” "Red Riding Hood," "Wrath Of The Titans") to write the screenplay for the new ‘Nightmare,’ though there’s no word yet on what the approach might be. It’s probably safe to say the basic mechanics of the long-running franchise will be in place.
