It’s early days, but a lot of people are already talking Oscar (usually in lieu of something to talk about), so obviously Heath Ledger’s name has been thrown around a wore-in softball of late, but what about Christian Bale and the rest of the cast? Obviously, “The Dark Knight” left more than one critic breathless and overheated and some have predicted that Christopher Nolan’s “masterpiece” could covet more than one Oscar nom and maybe that of its lead, Bale.
The Golden Derby’s Tom O’Neil is suggesting that this morning’s alleged assault incident, minor or otherwise could hurt his chances. All jokes aside, we like Bale a lot. Enough that earlier this year we wrote a nearly outraged piece asking how it is that Bale’s never been nominated for an Oscar before. That seems absurd. Anyhow, O’Neil takes a deeper look and retraces the steps of past actors who’s public transgressions have shut them out of the awards, seemingly forever. [The Golden Derby]
