One Franchise To Rule Them All: Kevin Feige Says Marvel Planning As Far Ahead As 2021

Sure, Warner Bros. is finally making the tentative steps towards the inevitable “Justice League” movie along with the much-discussed “Superman vs. Batman” movie, but the studio is still way behind what Marvel has done with their cinematic universe. Since the surprise success of “Iron Man” in 2008, under Kevin Feige, the company has rigidly mapped and guided the increasingly complex universe from box office success to box office success. In an interview with Wired, Feige sheds some light on what the future holds for the comics giant.

While talking with the magazine, Feige casually said that Marvel has mapped its universe far past “The Avengers: Age Of Ultron,” telling Wired “I could arguably say what we’re planning for the year 2021.” Despite sounding a tad flippant, Marvel’s head honcho clarified, “Will that happen? I don’t know. But what we planned for 2015 in 2006 is happening.”

What sort of things does the studio have planned? Well, Feige doesn’t outright say anything, but seeing as we’re getting a “Guardians of the Galaxy” movie, expect to see stranger characters and properties getting some time in the limelight, like Doctor Strange or Nova. What do you folks think? Are you excited for the plan or are you sick of studios obsessively planning out franchises years in advance (see: “The Amazing Spider-Man” or “Star Wars” or “Avatar“)?
