Parasite Wins Best Picture From Los Angeles Film Critics Association

The Los Angeles Film Critics Association took their own path with their year end awards honoring Bong Joon Ho’s spectacular “Parasite” as Best Film. The NEON and CJ Entertainment release also took Best Director and Best Supporting Actor, Song Kang Ho. Martin Scorsese’s “The Irishman,” which won the NBR and NYFCC honors, was runner up for Picture, Director and Supporting Actor.

Antonio Banderas won Best Actor for “Pain and Glory” and, in a slight surprise, Mary Kay Place took Best Actress for her performance in “Diane.”  Jennifer Lopez won Best Supporting Actress for “Hustlers.”

“I Lost My Body” took both Animated Film and Music Score. “American Factory” won Documentary/Non Fiction while Noah Baumbach took Screenplay for “Marriage Story.” Claire Mathon was lauded for Cinematography for both “Portrait of a Lady on Fire” and “Atlantics.”  Barbara Ling won Production Design for “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood” and Todd Douglas Miller won Editing for “Apollo 11.” 

After awarding “Parasite” Best Picture, the members spread the love and honored Pedro Almodovar’s “Pain and Glory” as Best Foreign Language Film.
