'Plus One' Trailer: Maya Erskine And Jack Quaid Survive The Summer Wedding Season

Summer is practically here and with it comes the ever romantic, at times nauseating, wedding season. Between friends and family, surviving the sweltering months of love, uncomfortable speeches, and questionable dance moves can prove rigorous and tiring. For college friends Ben and Alice, in the new film “Plus One,” wedding season becomes a frustrating and complicated time that they try to survive together, for better or for worse.

Selected from the recent Tribeca Film Festival, “Plus One” follows Ben and Alice through each wedding they attend as each other’s date. While the scheme for the pair means helping the other find a wedding hook-up, their honest feelings for one another start to get in the way amidst the romantics of the various celebrations and nuptials.

“Plus One” is the feature film debut of directing partners Jeff Chan and Andrew Rhymer, whose previous works include a slew of short films as well as collaboration on Hulu‘s “PEN15.” Taking on the roles of Ben and Alice is “PEN15” star and co-creator, Maya Erskine and Jack Quaid (“The Boys,” “Logan Lucky“).

The film came out of Tribeca with fairly tepid to positive reviews, with our own you can read here. Still, the infectious talent of Erskine and the light, if predictable, natured film could come as a welcome respite for those struggling through summer wedding season.

“Plus One” hits theaters and On Demand / Digital HD June 14.

Here are the official trailer and synopsis:

Long-time friends Alice and Ben find themselves in that inevitable year that all late 20-somethings experience—in which seemingly every person they know gets married—and agree to be one another’s plus ones as they power through an endless parade of insufferable weddings.
