'Mission: Impossible' Star Rebecca Ferguson Lands Lead Roles In 'Men In Black' & 'Doctor Sleep'

Many were predicting that actress Rebecca Ferguson would be the breakout star of “Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation,” which premiered back in 2015. After that film, the actress had a string of hit-or-miss films with “The Girl on the Train,” “Life,” and “The Snowman.” However, after another scene-stealing performance in “Mission: Impossible — Fallout,” the Swedish actress has landed some pretty major follow-up films that will surely cement her in the A-list.

According to a report by Deadline, Ferguson has not only landed one lead role in a massive blockbuster but has somehow landed two huge roles. First, the actress will be starring opposite Chris Hemsworth as the female lead in the new “Men in Black” spin-off/sequel film that is coming in 2019. Ferguson is joining an incredible cast for the film, starring alongside the aforementioned Hemsworth, as well as Tessa Thompson, Liam Neeson, Emma Thompson, and Kumail Nanjani.

As if that wasn’t enough, the ‘Fallout’ actress has also signed on to star in the upcoming ‘Shining’ sequel “Doctor Sleep.” In that film, Ferguson will play the antagonist Rose the Hat. She’ll star opposite Ewan McGregor, who is set to take over the role of Danny Torrance in the film. For those that aren’t aware, “Doctor Sleep” is based on the novel of the same name from author Stephen King that picks up with Danny Torrance decades after his experiences in “The Shining.”

In addition to these new roles, Ferguson has recently completed filming on the project “The Kid Who Would Be King” from director Joe Cornish, who is best known for his work on the underrated “Attack the Block” and the upcoming “Snow Crash.”

The as-yet-untitled “Men in Black” spin-off film is set to be released on May 19, 2019. As for “Doctor Sleep,” that film won’t be haunting audiences until January 24, 2020.
