Update: Rebecca Hall, Michael Pena & Christopher Wallace Join Will Ferrell In 'Everything Must Go', Laura Dern In Talks

Update: Deadline Hollywood reports that Michael Pena and Christopher Wallace have also joined the cast, while Laura Dern is negotiating to join as well.

Every now and then, Will Ferrell likes to stop acting like a hilarious man-child and stretch his acting chops a bit. His turns in the films like “Winter Passing,” “Melinda & Melinda” (where he was surprisingly really good) and the underrated “Stranger Than Fiction” show a comedian whose actually got some skills when not acting like a total retard.

Last fall, Ferrell added another low-key indie drama to his plate in the shape of “Everything Must Go.” The Black List approved script “centers on a relapsed alcoholic (Ferrell) who loses his job and his wife and decides to live on his front lawn while selling all of his belongings.” Rebecca Hall (“Vicky Cristina Barcelona,” “Frost/Nixon”) has joined the cast and will play “a newcomer to the neighborhood who forges a special bond with Ferrell’s character.”

There is no word yet on when the microscopically budgeted $10 million film will shoot, but we presume that it will be soon. It sounds like an intriguing script and the film now certainly has some great leads. We’re curious to see how this one will turn out.
