Production Of Dwayne Johnson & Ryan Reynolds Film, ‘Red Notice,’ Might Move Away From Italy Due To Coronavirus

Over the weekend, it was reported that coronavirus has taken the lives of two people in the US, the first known deaths related to the illness. This comes after the illness has killed near 3,000 people in China and has been moving through Europe, including a large outbreak in Italy. And it’s the spread in Italy that has reportedly forced Netflix to look for a new location to shoot the action film, “Red Notice.”

According to Deadline, Netflix is exploring options that would find the studio moving the scheduled production time in Italy to another location. Though the bulk of the film is set to shoot in Atlanta, Georgia, due to the nature of the story, the action film is supposed to film in Italy for a period. But after the production halt of “Mission: Impossible 7,” due to coronavirus, there seems to be no end in sight for when the country will get back to full speed. And when you have Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Ryan Reynolds, and Gal Gadot all signed to star in “Red Notice,” you have to make sure filming doesn’t get delayed.

“Red Notice” is a heist thriller that Netflix is producing that is written and directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber. The filmmaker has previously worked with Johnson on films such as “Central Intelligence” and “Skyscraper.” Clearly, with the massive A-list talent involved, Netflix wants to ensure that “Red Notice” doesn’t suffer any setbacks that might throw the whole film into question.

Where Netflix might move “Red Notice” to is still unknown at this time. It’s also unknown when the production was scheduled to begin in Italy. However, as mentioned, the spread of coronavirus doesn’t seem to be slowing down, as of now, so we’ll just have to wait and see what the streaming service does next.
