Reese Witherspoon Will Be A Disoriented Astronaut In 'Pale Blue Dot'

If you ever wondered what happens after Sandra Bullock returns to Earth at the end of “Gravity,” then perhaps Reese Witherspoon‘s next project will hold the answer.

The actress, last seen in the comedy flop “Hot Pursuit,” is heading into orbit with “Pale Blue Dot.” Brian C. Brown and Elliott DiGuiseppi have penned the script that follows an astronaut who returns home after a long mission in space, and starts to break down when plunked back into her perfect American life. It’s certainly intriguing, but this one isn’t quite ready to leave the launchpad.

The project is set up at Fox Searchlight, with Witherspoon producing, but no director is attached at the moment. But, with a studio already aboard, that’s a sign of confidence and we’re sure some decent names will want to take a look at what sounds like some interesting and original material.
