Ridley Scott's 'All The Money In The World' Coming In 2017

Each Oscar season, there are movies on the fence of completion that either might sneak in under the wire for the awards season, or have to wait another year. Well, two highly anticipated pictures are getting ready rumble for gold.

Release dates have been set for Ridley Scott‘s “All The Money In The World” and “Nightcrawler” director Dan Gilroy‘s “Roman Israel, Esq” (formerly known as “Inner City“). Scott’s movie stars Michelle Williams, Kevin Spacey, and Mark Wahlberg, with David Scarpa (“The Last Castle,” “The Day The Earth Stood Still“) penning the true story tale of the kidnapping of John Paul Getty III, the heir to the Getty oil fortune, and his mother’s desperate attempt to get the cash for the ransom from the boy’s stubborn grandfather. Clearly, the bonafides of the picture are obvious, but Sony Pictures also wants the movie out soon because Danny Boyle‘s FX series “Trust,” about the very same story, debuts in January.

“All The Money In The World” will open on December 8th opposite Guillermo Del Toro‘s “The Shape Of Water,” but you can probably rule out a fall festival debut, since cameras are currently rolling on this quick turnaround film.

Meanwhile, “Roman Israel, Esq” sees Denzel Washington take the lead role as a Los Angeles attorney who is offered a job at a prestigious law firm after the death of his longtime partner and takes on a case that has life-altering repercussions. We’re pretty much sold on this, and a primo November 3rd limited bow means Sony is hoping to build out the buzz on this flick.

We’re still in the thick of summer, but the awards season is truly heating up.
