Sarah Silverman Will Sell Herself In Seth MacFarlane's 'A Million Ways To Die In The West'

nullEven though he’s still smarting from criticism over his Oscar hosting performance, tweeting a week ago, “Hey press– y’know that frenzy you whipped up over the Oscars? Try using the same zeal over climate change. Just once. Make yourself useful,” Seth MacFarlane is pressing on with his next movie. And thanks to the smash success of last year’s “Ted,” it seems the dude can pretty much get whoever he wants.

With Charlize Theron, Liam Neeson, Amanda Seyfried, and Giovanni Ribisi already on board, stand up comedienne and actress Sarah Silverman is the latest to enter negotiations for the flick. The western comedy (really) will find MacFarlane taking the lead as cowardly farmer whose girlfriend (Amanda Seyfried, the perks of also being the director) leaves him when he backs out of a gunfight. He soon meets up with the wife (Charlize Theron) of a notorious outlaw who teaches him how to shoot, only to run afoul of her husband. Silverman would take the role of the town prostitute, who has no problem with a variety sex acts, but ironically won’t sleep with her husband (Ribisi), because the Christian couple aren’t married yet. So yeah, it’s MacFarlane once again taking easy (too easy?) potshots at religion.

Silverman’s roles on the big screen have been fairly varied, with last year providing evidence of her range, going from a more dramatic role in “Take This Waltz” to voicing the lead role in “Wreck-It Ralph,” but this should provide plenty of opportunity for her salty brand of humor. No release date yet, but given how fast this is coming together, we’d reckon production is starting soon. [THR]
