The return of Spike Jonze is an exciting prospect on its own, but with Joaquin Phoenix as his lead and three leading ladies alongside him in Amy Adams, Rooney Mara and Olivia Wilde, we're rightfully anticipating his upcoming untitled project. Apparently centering on a man who falls in love with a Siri-like computer voice, presumably on an iPhone device, we now have a couple of set photos of a mustached Phoenix running around a subway station before lazing around on a Manhattan beach.
Also standing out from the pics is the thing in the breast pocket of Phoenix's shirt — could this be the device (or iPhone) that has the Siri-like computer voice Phoenix's character is in love with? Awwww… he's even facing the camera outwards as if allowing her/it to see what he sees. Obviously we're guessing here as details are fairly scarce at the moment. One theory we read was that Phoenix would be trying to find the woman behind the voice which would also make sense as well. But the melding of technology and real life is nothing new for the helmer who was behind the robot-driven short "I'm Here" starring Andrew Garfield.
The pic is being backed by Megan Elllison's Annapurna Pictures and will be Jonze's first effort since 2009's "Where The Wild Things Are." It's also his first solo-written full-length original screenplay. No word on yet on a release date, but you'll probably have to wait until next year. [JustJared/Zimbio]
