'Spider-Man: Homecoming' Sequel & 'Bad Boys 4' Set 2019 Release Dates

These days studios are aiming big. Warner Bros. confirmed a five film franchise for “Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them” before the movie opened last month, and now with over a half year to go until “Spider-Man: Homecoming” swings into cinemas, Sony are feeling confident enough (likely buoyed by the reception to the trailer) to set a date for the sequel.

The follow-up to “Spider-Man: Homecoming” will now land on July 5, 2019, so after you’re done doing your patriotic partying the day before, you can head over to the multiplex. There are no other movies slated to be released that weekend, and it’s safe to say that the other studios won’t be putting their big guns opposite the webslinger, so expect them to go with counter-programming offerings.

Meanwhile, “Bad Boys 4” will now arrive on May 24, 2019. As for “Bad Boys 3” aka, “Bad Boys For Life“? It’s close and still set for a January 2018 arrival. “It is very, very, very close. It is very close,” Will Smith told Jimmy Kimmel this week while praising his co-star Martin Lawrence. “I love that dude. That’s among the best times I’ve ever had making movies. So I’m looking forward to it.”

The reunion between Will Smith and Martin Lawrence comes sixteen years after “Bad Boys 2” and clearly the studio feels like there’s lots left in the tank.  “Bad Boys 4”  will face off against Warner Bros. brewing “Minecraft” movie, which shouldn’t really be a problem, since it’s safe to say both pictures will be aiming for a different audience.
