'Strike Back' Star Sullivan Stapleton Will Snitch To The Cops In 'Gangster Squad'

We try and keep up with television, we really do, but there is only so much time in the day and Lord knows, our channel flipping rarely ever takes us to Cinemax so forgive us if we’ve never heard of “Strike Back.” But whether or not we watch it doesn’t matter as people in Hollywood clearly have and Sullivan Stapleton is now trading up into a movie role.

Heat Vision reveals that the lead actor of the show — and who you might recognize from his small stint as Craig Cody in “Animal Kingdom” — is now gearing up to join “Gangster Squad.” He’ll be joining a huge and fantastic cast including Ryan Gosling, Sean Penn, Anthony Mackie, Michael Peña, Giovanni Ribisi, Holt McCallany, Emma Stone, Robert Patrick, Frank Grillo and Mirielle Enos in the gangland tale focusing on a specialized L.A.P.D. unit set up in the ‘40s to fight East Coast gangster Mickey Cohen and his growing footprint in the city. Sullivan will play Gosling’s childhood friend who is a mob enforcer-turned-police informant.

What else can we say about this, except with this much talent and great script in hand, director Ruben Fleischer would have to blow it pretty hard to screw this up. Filming kicks off next month, but no release date has been set just yet.
