SXSW 2017 Adds James Franco's 'The Disaster Artist,' Midnight Lineup Revealed

Of the many, many, many James Franco projects that are ready to go, the most high-profile is easily “The Disaster Artist.” His take on the making of Tommy Wiseau‘s cult favorite “The Room” brings together an ensemble of his pals with a great premise, and now we’ll see how it turned out.

SXSW has announced the addition of “The Disaster Artist” to their 2017 lineup. Franco directs the film and stars as Wiseau, with Dave Franco, Seth Rogen, Josh Hutcherson, Ari Graynor, Jacki Weaver, and Alison Brie in support for the movie that detail the wild story behind the shoot of “The Room.” And don’t forget, there will be cameo appearances too by Bryan Cranston, Zach Braff and probably others.

The festival has also unveiled their midnight slate, and it will include the following pictures: Trent Haaga’s “68 Kill,” Laurence “Baz” Morais and Sebastien Landry’s “Game Of Death,” Karen Skloss’ “The Honor Farm,” Joe Lynch’s “Mayhem,” Yoshihiro Nishimura’s “Meatball Machine Kodoku,” Adam Mason’s “PIG: The Final Screenings,” Tyler MacIntyre’s “Tragedy Girls,” Dominic Bridges’ “Two Pigeons,” Taneli Mustonen’s “Lake Bodom” and a 10th-anniversary screening of Scott Glosserman’s “Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon.”

SXSW runs from March 10th to 18th.
