Tessa Thompson Confirms Michael B. Jordan Will Direct 'Creed 3' & She'll Need Him To "Dial Down The Sexiness"

Creed 3” has always been a given, especially since the sequel not only did solid box office numbers but still was able to receive critical acclaim, as did the first film. But with the history of director changes on the franchise, it’s only been a question of who will be behind the camera when Michael B. Jordan dons the boxing gloves one more time. Well, it appears that Tessa Thompson has confirmed the recent reports that Jordan himself will be the person that will bring yet another Adonis Creed story to life.

Speaking to MTV News, the actress not only confirmed that Michael B. Jordan is set to direct “Creed 3,” but Thompson also shared her concern that maybe the actor-turned-filmmaker is indeed too sexy, which may serve as a problem on set.

“He is directing the next ‘Creed,’” Thompson revealed. “It’s gonna be ammo, I think, for me when he is engaging with me as a director. I’m just going to tell him to dial down the sexiness.”

She added, “We’re not going to make it until later in the year, so who knows what happens? I don’t know if he’ll be the sexiest man alive in six months.”

That last comment, of course, referencing the fact that Jordan recently won the coveted title of Sexiest Man Alive given annually by People Magazine. And even though my wife has nothing to worry about, I am going to go out on a limb and say that Jordan will still be a very handsome man throughout 2021 and probably into 2022. So, Thompson has nothing to worry about.

With Jordan taking over “Creed 3,” that marks the third different filmmaker in three films for the box office hit franchise. With Ryan Coogler directing the first one, marking the debut of the “Rocky” spinoff franchise with Michael B. Jordan as the son of Apollo Creed, named Adonis Creed, the sequel was then handed off to Stephen Caple Jr, who directed the follow-up. Now, it seems as if Jordan is going to perform double duty on the threequel, as star and helmer.

If Thompson is correct and “Creed 3” doesn’t start filming until later in 2021, it appears that a 2022 release date is likely in the cards. That would also give the film enough time to probably guarantee a theatrical release, as 2021 is still up in the air as far as whether or not major blockbusters will confidently debut on the big screen as the theatrical industry does its best to recover from the pandemic.
