With the likes of “Toy Story 4” opening this week, you wouldn’t be crazy to have completely forgotten that this summer is also the season that will see yet another major animated sequel arrive in theaters. Except, the other sequel doesn’t have Oscar ambitions and generations of film fans anxiously awaiting it. Yes, we’re talking about Sony’s upcoming film “The Angry Birds Movie 2.”
If you’ve ever played the mobile game, you get the basic idea behind “The Angry Birds” franchise. The film follows some cartoon birds that have temper issues. They have a mortal enemy in the form of green pigs. But in the sequel, things get whacky! You see, in the sequel the pigs and the birds have to work together. Nuts, right?!?

Honestly, unlike “Toy Story 4,” which will be seen by adults and children alike, “The Angry Birds Movie 2” is likely going to be a film that kids will drag their parents to. And it’s probably going to make a ton of money.
The incredible cast includes Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, Leslie Jones, Bill Hader, Rachel Bloom, Awkwafina, Sterling K. Brown, Danny McBride, Peter Dinklage, Zach Woods, Pete Davidson, Lil Rel Howery, and Beck Bennett.
“The Angry Birds Movie 2” arrives in theaters on August 14.

The flightless angry birds and the scheming green piggies take their beef to the next level in The Angry Birds Movie 2! When a new threat emerges that puts both Bird and Pig Island in danger, Red (Jason Sudeikis), Chuck (Josh Gad), Bomb (Danny McBride), and Mighty Eagle (Peter Dinklage) recruit Chuck’s sister Silver (Rachel Bloom) and team up with pigs Leonard (Bill Hader), his assistant Courtney (Awkwafina), and techpig Garry (Sterling K. Brown) to forge an unsteady truce and form an unlikely superteam to save their homes.
