Seeing as he’s not officially confirmed to direct the Jane Goldman-penned “Pinocchio” yet, or the Jane Goldman-penned “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children," Tim Burton has a bit of time on his hands at the moment. Eager to fill the time before he inevitably gets started on something else dark and gothic he’ll be reuniting with one of his regular collaborators on a smaller project.
Burton was in the seaside town of Blackpool in the U.K. last week to shoot a music video for The Killers with Winona Ryder. The band are currently touring the U.K., and actually had to cut one show short and then cancel another in the two days preceding the video shoot after frontman Brandon Flowers lost his voice. That didn’t stop Burton from getting his video shot though, and the band also managed to make their show at The O2 in London the night after. At any rate, it continues their recent work with auteurs after recently roping in Werner Herzog, of all people, to film their concert webcast (you can also check out the director's mini-documentary on the band right here).
Winona Ryder’s last big-screen credit was actually as part of Tim Burton’s “Frankenweenie” where she voiced Elsa Van Helsing, and she’s currently filing the action thriller “Homefront” with Jason Statham, James Franco and Kate Bosworth. We don’t know what song this video will be for, but we’re always happy to see more of Winona. And any time that Burton gets to put forward his unique visuals without having to concern himself with anything as tedious as plot is fine by us too, so yeah, we’re looking forward to seeing this one. Until then, check Burton's first team up with The Killers, "Bones," below. [ABC4]
