Tony Revolori Joins 'Willow' Series Coming To Disney+

Disney’s penchant for grabbing existing IP from the shelf and dusting it off for a new audience is happening yet again with “Willow.” The 1988 film drew a cult following over the decades for its fun performances from stars Warwick Davis and Val Kilmer. Unfortunately, a sequel never came to fruition. But with Disney+, the studio is willing to greenlight anything with franchise potential, so we’re getting a brand-new “Willow” sequel series. And now, we know the latest actor that has landed a lead role, Tony Revolori.

According to Deadline, Revolori is the latest actor to join the growing cast of the “Willow” series that should begin shooting soon in Wales. Best known for his roles in films like “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” “The Grand Budapest Hotel,” and “Dope,” Revolori has already proven himself to be a charming, fun addition to any project. The energy he brings should work well in the comedic fantasy world of “Willow.”

Revolori joins already-announced cast members Ellie Bamber, Cailee Spaeny, Erin Kellyman, and, of course, Warwick Davis in the series. While a synopsis has yet to be announced, the series is expected to take place years after the original film and follow a group of young adventurers that have to save a kidnapped prince. And somewhere along the way, Willow, shows up and helps, we’re guessing. The title of the series is “Willow” for a reason, right?

The “Willow” series comes from writer Jonathan Kasdan, who co-showruns the series alongside Wendy Mericle. As you might expect, Lucasfilm is on board as producers of the series, alongside the original film’s director Ron Howard and writer Bob Dolman.

It’s unclear when the “Willow” series might make its debut on Disney+. However, with production expected to begin fairly soon, this sounds like a project we can fully expect to invade our screens in 2022.
