Trailer Round Up; 'A Christmas Carol', 'Everybody's Fine', 'A Single Man'

– A bunch of trailers have gone up in the last few days, and we’ve stuck them all in one handy post, to protect you from that carpal tunnel syndrome you’ve got coming on… First up is “Disney’s A Christmas Carol,” the lastest motion capture extravaganza from Robert Zemeckis. We’re pretty skeptical of Zemeckis’ conviction that mo-cap is the future of cinema, and this trailer’s done nothing to convince us otherwise, although we’re sure Jim Carrey’s performance(s) will be a tour-de-force.

In Contention found the trailer for Robert De Niro starrer “Everybody’s Fine,” from “Nanny McPhee” director Kirk Jones, and co-starring Kate Beckinsale, Sam Rockwell and Drew Barrymore. It’s a strong cast, with De Niro rumored to be putting in his strongest performance for years, and the trailer’s tone seems to fall somewhere between the cynicism of “About Schmidt” and the sickliness of “The Family Stone.” Will this be an Oscars dark horse?

Apple has a new featurette for “Fantastic Mr. Fox,” sadly missing Jason Schwartzman’s “Yo, Teach!” voice, which focuses on author Roald Dahl, and the house in which he wrote much of the book, which Wes Anderson has painstakingly recreated.

– Columbia’s graverobbing documentary/performance movie “Michael Jackson’s This Is It,” featuring footage from Michael Jackson’s final rehearsals for his 50 date run in London, now has a trailer, and will clearly make an insane amount of money.

– Finally, Tom Ford’s “A Single Man,” which, as we reported yesterday, is currently sweeping the festival circuit, and has now been picked up by the Weinsteins for an awards run, has a first trailer, which looks pretty great. We’ll be seeing this in Toronto later today, so we’ll let you know if it lives up to the hype…
