It’s just a few weeks to go until the Oscars, and it’ll be our last chance rubbing digital elbows with the Class of 2015. And it’s been a pretty good bunch this year, and only has to look at the filmmakers nominated for Best Director by the DGAs to see the high level of talent that have created some of the most memorable films of the year.

And before the Oscar show closes the books, the Directors Guild Of America rounded up all five — Alejandro G. Iñárritu, Ridley Scott, George Miller, Tom McCarthy, and Adam McKay — on the eve of their awards for a lengthy, two-hour, 40-minute conversation. During the discussion, the filmmakers share anecdotes about the advice they’ve received, casting, the rehearsal process, the happy accidents that occur during production, and more. You couldn’t ask for a more in-depth talk, and you certainly won’t see these five on the same stage again anytime soon.
