This writer is probably one of the few who didn't care for the latest domestic trailer for "Django Unchained" when it landed a week or so ago, but after watching this brand new international trailer, that opinion could very much be turning around.
Sticking with James Brown's "The Payback," which has been used for the majority of the film's promo material this time, this spot brings a bit more of an even-handed approach instead of trying to sell the movie as a straight up comedy, and as a result it's even more compelling. It's a mix of new footage and stuff we've seen before, but most notably, Christoph Waltz's Dr. King Schultz finally explains just why he teams up with Jamie Foxx's Django in the first place: he's never known what it's like to liberate someone. All told, it's another intriguing look at the film that will likely spark more than a few discussions in what is another epic undertaking by Quentin Tarantino.
"Django Unchained" gets free on Christmas Day.
