Watch: Latest 'Green Lantern' Trailer Showcases 3D And Gets All The Exposition Out Of The Way

Just in case you didn’t get enough DC Comics excitement today with Warner Bros. releasing the first image of Tom Hardy as Bane from “The Dark Knight Rises” in the first of what is sure to be many viral stunts, they’ve also released the latest trailer for “Green Lantern.” As the film is going to be a bit of a harder sell for WB, you don’t even have to jump through any hoops to watch it. By releasing a new trailer what seems like every few weeks, the studio has done a good job of turning fan expectations around after some shaky early footage. As someone on Twitter said, “I feel shortchanged on days there isn’t a new “Green Lantern” trailer.”

The latest clip is for audiences who aren’t familiar with the comics and get’s all the exposition out front. (Seriously, it takes a full minute and a half just to explain what’s going on here.) It also looks to be a showcase for the film’s 3D, (though you can only watch it online in 2D), it’s going to be attached to 3D prints so we imagine it’ll be a bit more immersive in theaters. While we thought the film was facing an uphill battle incorporating more fantastical elements than comic fans have been used to with more grounded films like “The Dark Knight,” if Marvel Studios can turn “Thor” into a hit, we don’t see why ‘Lantern’ should have a problem.

We’ll see when “Green Lantern” opens on June 17th. You can watch the latest trailer below.
