Worst Heroes Ever: 2 New TV Spots For ‘Suicide Squad’ Show Off DC's Anti-Heroes [Watch]

There’s a lot riding on the success of the upcoming Warner Bros/DC film, “Suicide Squad.” After the below expectations showing at the box office of “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” WB/DC is ready for a homerun. After a couple solid trailers, the marketing for “Suicide Squad” is getting into gear with a couple of new 30-second TV spots.

Judging by the promos, WB/DC wants everyone to know this is a new kind of superhero film for the company — colorful, energetic, and filled with humor to go along with the action that someone would expect from a David Ayer film.

It’s hard not to watch any of the trailers or TV spots for “Suicide Squad” and not be reminded of Marvel’sGuardians of the Galaxy.” That film used pop music and humor to separate it from the rest of the superhero films coming out and with great success, and it’s clear that WB/DC is hoping to replicate that formula with “Suicide Squad.” One thing is for sure, judging by the footage seen so far, this is going to be a big departure from the tone set forth in ‘Batman v Superman.’

“Suicide Squad” is directed by David Ayer and stars Will Smith as Deadshot, Jared Leto as the Joker, and Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. Let’s see if this will give WB/DC a burst of momentum to carry their new DC Extended Universe into the future.

“Suicide Squad” will be released August 5th.
