Well, whether or not Michelle Williams has a shot at another Best Actress nomination remains to be seen, and we’ll soon find out after “My Week With Marilyn” premieres at the New York Film Festival, which kicks off today. But there can be no doubt, Williams looks gorgeous in the lead role as the iconic Marilyn Monroe.
Baz Bamigboye over at the Daily Mail has unveiled the latest snaps from the film and from the golden curls right down the innocent, come hither expression on her face, Williams seems to embody the cinematic icon. The film, directed by TV veteran Simon Curtis will center on Monroe’s friendship with young Englishman Colin Clark while in the U.K. shooting “The Prince and the Showgirl,” as well as her tempestuous relationship with director/co-star Laurence Olivier. Rising star Eddie Redmayne plays Clark, with Kenneth Branagh taking on the mantle of Olivier, and a solid supporting cast including Judi Dench as actress Sybil Thorndike, Julia Ormond as Olivier’s wife Vivien Leigh, Dougray Scott as Monroe’s husband Arthur Miller, with Derek Jacobi, Dominic Cooper and Emma Watson rounding things out.
The Weinsteins, who are still looking for a dominant awards season horse are hoping the premiere in New York goes well, but we’ll get to see the film ourselves when it opens on November 4th. Full images below.
