This is perhaps the toughest category to predict. We’re going with BAFTA winner Rachel Weisz. The instinct is to predict Regina King, who earned an Oscar nod after getting snubbed by BAFTA and SAG, but there is huge concern enough members haven’t seen “Beale Street.” King could still win based on her reputation in the industry and the fact she won numerous critics groups awards. Amy Adams now has six nominations without a win. There doesn’t appear to be a groundswell for Adams but this category is so close anyone could come up on top except for Emma Stone who pretty much stopped campaigning after the nominations. If the love for “Roma” takes a passionate turn than Marina de Tavira could also surprise. [Updated Feb. 12]
