It’s a pretty amazing two years for Kimberly Steward. At this time in 2015 Steward was on the set of Kenneth Lonergan‘s “Manchester by the Sea” as the production battled blizzards and snow to get finished on time. 12 months ago Steward just returned from Sundance where “Manchester” wowed crowds and was acquired for a pretty penny by Amazon Studios. Today, she is an Oscar nominee as the producer of the 2017 Best Picture nominee.
Steward met with me the day after the annual Oscar luncheon and was clearly still on a high from what is an overwhelming moment of “this is really happening” to many nominees. We discussed “Manchester,” obviously, her thoughts on the indie film business at Sundance and what’s next for her and her company K Period Media.
