While there has been much talk about “Anchorman 2” aka “Anchorman: The Legend Continues,” details on the actual plot have seen somewhat vague and only really addressed in a broader sense of the thematic territory that will apparently find Ron Burgundy swimming in a bigger media arena than he was back in San Diego. But could a plot morsel served out pretty early on turn about to be right on the money?
“I don’t want to give away too much, but I’ll just give a couple pieces of ideas that we’ve kicked around. Keep in mind we’re still writing the story, but I’ll say one phrase for you: custody battle,” writer/director Adam McKay said about a year ago. And that was about the most we heard about that, with some suggesting the battle would actually be over Ron’s beloved dog Baxter and not an actual kid. But maybe not. A new set photo shows Will Ferrell sitting with a rather dapper little kid.
Anyway, while adding a kid into the mix is always dangerous (please see every sitcom ever), we’re hopeful that Ferrell and everyone else will treat it with the irreverence we expect. Featuring Paul Rudd, David Koechner, Christina Applegate, Harrison Ford, Kristen Wiig, James Marsden, Meagan Good, Greg Kinnear, Josh Lawson and Dylan Baker, “Anchorman: The Legend Continues” goes on the air on December 20th.
