Amanda Seyfried Saddling Up With Charlize Theron In Seth MacFarlane's Comedy Western 'A Million Ways To Die In The West'

Amanda Seyfried,Diversity is an actor's best friend, and for Amanda Seyfried, she's certainly been stretching her wings. Testing her pipes in the Oscar nominated "Les Miserables" and baring it all both literally and figuratively in the pornstar biopic "Lovelace," the actress is once again switching gears, this time tackling something a bit lighter, but no less edgy.

The actress is in negotiations to join Charlize Theron in Seth MacFarlane's "A Million Ways To Die In The West." Re-teaming with his "Ted" co-writers Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild, MacFarlane's next directorial effort is a "Blazing Saddles"-style picture set in the 1800s that will follow a mild-mannered farmer (MacFarlane) whose girlfriend (Seyfried) leaves him when he backs out of a gunfight. He crosses paths with the wife (Theron) of a notorious outlaw who teaches him how to shoot, and he seeks to win back his girl. Casting Seyfried as your girlfriend? Well played, MacFarlane. Well played.

Production on the movie will begin in May, and while we'd ordinarily raise flags about the western comedy genre, which doesn't have the best track record, if MacFarlane could turn an R-rated movie about a foul mouthed teddy bear into a massive smash hit, who are we to bet against him? [THR]
