If I were to tell you that "Eye In The Sky" premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, you’d probably go, "Huh?" Indeed, it seems like a surprising event for this low-key thriller to debut, and while it’s not perfect, the latest film from Gavin Hood ("Tsotsi," "Ender’s Game") is a mostly effective look at the moral and political issues involved with drone warfare.

Starring Helen Mirren, Aaron Paul, Alan Rickman and Barkhad Abdi, the film tells the story of an American drone pilot who navigates political, personal and ethical quandaries when he’s drawn into an operation to take out a terrorist cell planning a suicide bombing. But he soon finds himself weighing the cost of taking innocent lives while being compelled to adhere to the chain of command. It sounds like didactic, but "Eye In The Sky" possesses enough nuance and texture to make it worth a watch (read our review).
