As if "Morvern Callar" and "We Need To Talk About Kevin" helmer Lynne Ramsay doing a western wasn't enough to get you excited, the cast itself is a powderkeg all its own. With Natalie Portman, Michael Fassbender and Joel Edgerton already lined up, a new name has now come on board.
"300" star Rodrigo Santoro has joined "Jane Got A Gun," playing the part of Fitchum. Penned by Brian Duffield, the story will follow Jane Hammond (Portman), a good girl married to one of the worst baddies in town. When her husband Bill (Edgerton) turns against his own gang, the vicious Bishop Boys, and returns home barely alive with eight bullets in his back, Jane decides to grab a gun and take matters into her own hands. As the relentless leader John Bishop gears up for revenge, Jane’s best hope for her family’s survival rests with her old love Dan Frost (Fassbender) – a gunslinger whose hatred for Bill is only slightly overshadowed by his love for Jane.
Production is slated to begin soon so we'll just place this already on our anticipated list for 2014. As for Santoro, after last month's "The Last Stand" and this summer's "300: Rise Of An Empire," it might be a nice change of pace from playing second fiddle to Arnie and getting greased up and yelling.
