It has been six years since “Coraline,” and director Henry Selick hasn’t had much luck in trying to get a new project off the ground. A few years back, both Disney and Laika developed and subsequently canceled “The Shadow King,” and the director’s efforts to get it mounted elsewhere haven’t yet panned out. He was also attached a while ago to helm “A Tale Dark And Grimm,” but not much has been heard about it. However, Selick has found an exciting new creative partnership for a film that sounds right up his alley.

Variety reports that Selick will direct “Wendell And Wild,” with Jordan Peele and Keegan-Michael Key as part of the development team (the former co-wrote the script). And again, it sounds perfectly Selick-ian. “ ‘Wendell and Wild’ is a comedy about two scheming demon brothers who must face their arch-nemesis, the demon-dusting nun Sister Helly, and her two acolytes, the goth teens Kat and Raoul,” the director told the trade.
The project is still in very early stages and still needs to find a buyer, but with the American Film Market kicking off tomorrow, I’d reckon that’ll be sorted soon.
