Turning Water Into Wine Music? Michel Gondry's Next Film To Be The 'Ice Kings'

Oh, Michel, you’re so wacky and imaginative. French director Michel Gondry apparently has a new project on the go and it’s not his long-awaited and long-gestating film, “Master of Time & Space” (which many were expecting after his upcoming “Be Kind Rewind“).

Titled “The Return of the Ice Kings,” the odds-sounding story is about kids who invent water that makes you hear music when you drink it. “It’s going to be a scientific story, but completely unrealistic,” Gondry told MTV News. Sounds like that 2005 residency at “nerdland” (MIT) really rubbed off on the director (apparently he was trying to combine digital technology and chemistry, which makes sense given the storyline of ‘Kings’).

“I’m into science – in fact, I read more about science and astronomy than about movies,” he said of his mindset while writing “Ice Kings.” “Science is re-questioning itself all the time, and it’s still at a stage where anything is possible.”

Gondry as said that he has actors in mind for the film, but wouldn’t reveal their names as he’s still writing the script. Apparently Gondry’s restless imagination knows no limits. “At one point, they see the end of time in the movie,” he revealed. “So, we’ll have to shoot it somewhere that looks like the end of time.”

Gondry is currently in post production with “Interior Design,” his segment in the tryptych vignettes film “Tokyo!”
