‘Trust’ Star Liana Libreto Also On Board
Aaron Eckhart‘s transition from respected character actor into mainstream leading man has been a bumpy road. For every “The Dark Knight” there is an ill-conceived entry like the rom-com “No Reservations,” and while it did solid box office ($180 million worldwide) “Battle: Los Angeles” was fucking terrible. But Eckhart isn’t through kicking ass and taking names, and he’s currently filming “Expatriate” and now has a former Bond girl on his tail.
Variety reports that Olga Kurylenko and “Trust” star Liana Libreto have joined the CIA thriller. Based on a script by A.E. Amel (no discernible IMDB credits other than this one), with Philipp Stölzl directing, Eckhart plays a former agent who moves to Belgium, trying to make a fresh go of things as the relationship with his 15-year-old daughter (Libreto) has crumbled. Working for a multinational corporation as a security head, he arrives to work one day to find that the corporation doesn’t actually exist and everyone he works with has vanished. He discovers his assistant is actually a trained operative trying to kill him. On the run with his daughter, the experience forces the two to trust and work with one another. Kurylenko will play his former CIA partner and lover trying to track him down. Geez, didn’t we see “Hanna” (or many of the variations thereof) already?
We gotta say, we don’t have too much faith in this one but we’d love to be proven wrong. The project was first announced last year and is now fully underway, currently lensing in Montreal before moving to Brussels next month.
