You would think it would be easy — walk into a grocery store, buy a baguette and leave — but for the first lady of France, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, making a non-speaking cameo in Woody Allen’s forthcoming “Midnight In Paris” it apparently took 35 takes to get it right (though bear in mind, that figure is probably exaggerated as the European press wastes no time taking shots at Bruni-Sarkozy).
The Daily Mail reports that Bruni held up the usually fast moving shooting method of Woody Allen, but at least it gave paparazzi plenty of opportunity to take pics of her work on the set alongside Owen Wilson.
The most interesting revelation? These snaps are wildly different (and completely contemporary) than the period setting photos that emerged early last week. So is there period stuff a fantasy or dream sequence? As Allen and co. usually keep tight lips on the project, we suppose we’ll have to wait to find out.
“Midnight In Paris” continues to shoot in Paris and along with Wilson and Bruni it stars Rachel McAdams, including Kathy Bates, Michael Sheen, Adrien Brody as well as the lesser-known likes of Nina Arianda, Corey Stoll, Mimi Kennedy, Kurt Fullerby and French comedians Gad Elmaleh and Manu Payet. Allen’s next film, the London-set “You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger,” hits theaters September 23rd.
