You’d think a film of this caliber would warrant a little more marketing effort, right? Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden’s “It’s Kind Of A Funny Story,” an adaptation of Ned Vizzini’s novel of the same name which we can’t be more excited for, has seen the release of a new poster which unfortunately screams amateur, generic and boring.
The film centers on Keir Gilchrist as a suicidal teen who checks himself into an adult psychiatric hospital and features a stellar supporting cast including Zach Galifinakis, Emma Roberts, Zoë Kravitz, Jeremy Davies, doctors and psychiatrists Viola Davis and Aasif Mandvi and parents, Lauren Graham and Jim Gaffigan.
Described by one producer as “One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest” meets “The Breakfast Club,” the film also features music written by Canadian indie-rockers Broken Social Scene.” We’ve been hearing good things about this one and in particular, Galifianakis’ performance has been earning standout praise.
‘Funny Story’ hits theaters September 24th through Focus Features, a date that doesn’t exactly bode well but hopefully has more to say about prospects of stable-mate films like Sofia Coppola’s “Somewhere.” In case you missed it, here’s the trailer for the film.
