Kitty Kelley’s controversial and pretty much fake biography about Oprah Winfrey is getting the biopic treatment; never let the truth get in the way of a good story, right?
Anyway, Oprah needn’t be too worried as the project, being eyed as a standalone TV movie or mini-series is being produced by Larry A. Thompson who specializes in producing run-of-the-mill work you’ve probably never heard of like “Murder In The Mirror” or “Replacing Dad.” Ok, in all fairness to the guy he did recently produce “Amish Grace” which became the most-watched and highest-rated original movie in the history of Lifetime Movie Network. But seriously, watch the trailer for it below. Yikes.
No word yet on casting, though there are plans to audition known and unknown actresses, but judging by the track record of Thompson’s films, don’t expect anyone you’ve heard of to step into the role (not to mention that facing the eternal wrath of Oprah is probably something agents would advise against). And duh, Oprah will not be assisting the production on any level.
The project is scheduled to air in September 2011 which just also happens to be when Oprah’s long running daytime talk show will go off the air.
