New Look At 'Madagascar 3' Which Now Features The Voice Of The Omnipresent Jessica Chastain

nullWhile Jessica Chastain was in every movie you saw last year, averaging a film every two months, they were largely indie productions, and they likely didn't see her swimming in a pool filled with money. But the actress is now set to take on a gig that will probably earn her a decent check, and best of all, she can probably work in her pyjamas if she wants to.

The actress joins Bryan Cranston and Martin Short as part of the voice cast of "Madagascar 3," playing, respectively, the jaguar Gia, the Siberian tiger Vitaly and Stefano the sea lion. Finally, your five-year-old will know what a Chastain is. In case you care, Eric Darnell ("Madagascar") and Conrad Vernon ("Monsters vs. Aliens") directed the latest entry in the animated franchise, and explained to EW what we can expect from these characters.

“The characters are like the three components of the circus’ attitude,” explains Darnell. “Vitaly is this very conservative tough guy who doesn’t like any change or any outsiders coming into his world. Stefano is this hilarious comic character — he’s always bubbling with excitement and enthusiasm and is up for anything. And Gia is a little more thoughtful, and she’s beautiful. Alex can’t help but be swayed by her.” Adds Vernon: “Gia acts as a moral compass for the circus. She protects [her friends] but also opens them up to new experiences.”

Short playing a character who is excited and enthusiastic!? No way! But really, this whole post is an excuse to show you this great video of Chastain being star struck meeting Gary Oldman on the red carpet at the Palm Springs Film Festival (be patient, it's at the end). This is why we love her to bits, it's pretty adorable (and yes, she cried a bit afterward). Watch below and after that, a pic from "Madagascar 3" which opens on June 8th.
