Arnold Schwarzenegger Actioner 'Black Sands' Becomes Supernatural-Tinged 'Black Sunday'

nullIt all seemed too predictable: Arnold Schwarzenegger returning to his bread and butter with some cold, hard, violent justice. Following his small role in "The Expendables 2" and the lead in modern western "The Last Stand," the hulking legend was set to star in "Black Sands." From Scott Waugh and Mike McCoy, the directors of upcoming Navy Seals recruitment film actioner "Act of Valor," the script, from Skip Woods ("The A-Team," "Hitman")  was being described as a cross between "Man On Fire" and "High Plains Drifter." And yet, suddenly, Arnie has flipped the script on all of us and gone into "End of Days" mode.

Now the project is known as "Black Sunday," with Arnold saying he's playing some sort of immortal. "I'm a kind of angel," he tells TheArnoldFans fansite. "I can not currently say more about this film." The project is now being called a cross between "Commando" and "Constantine," which doesn't mean anything since he was pretty much godlike and invincible in "Commando" already.

"Black Sunday" begins shooting April 1st, and the guess is he'll follow it up with the previously announced thriller "Captive." Meanwhile, those "Terminator" sequels seem farther and farther away by the day.
