Disney Developing 'Sister Act' Remake

Sister ActIt would seem that Disney‘s raiding of its own vaults for movie ideas isn’t just limited to animated films: the studio is now dusting off a ’90s hit and giving it a contemporary spin.

THR reports that the mouse house is working on a remake of "Sister Act." Kirsten "Kiwi" Smith and Karen McCullah, screenwriters on "Legally Blonde," "The House Bunny" and "She’s the Man," will pen what the trade calls a new "installment." Which is probably code for "remake" and "if Whoopi Goldberg is around and willing, she can jump into the movie too." The original film followed a Reno lounge singer who hides out with a bunch of nuns while on the run from the mob, and lots of comedic and musical mishaps occur. It’s a charming, massive hit that spawned a less satisfying sequel.
