With "Captain America: Civil War" set to feature almost every major Marvel movie character to date (including the first appearances of Spider-Man and Black Panther) — except for a select few and the "Guardians Of The Galaxy" team, who are still mostly left on their own — heading right into "Avengers: Infinity War" next, directors Joe and Anthony Russo want more. Granted, they’ll have the space with two films to work with, and they are using that opportunity to bring some fresh faces into the fold.

Chatting with Forbes, Joe Russo made it clear: "[There are] new characters that are going to appear in ‘Avengers: Infinity War.’ It’s a big sprawling ambitious movie, it’s about as ambitious as movies get and it should be, and the title alone indicates that there will be an incredible scape and scope to it," he said.
But perhaps more tantalizing is what his brother Anthony added: "It is intended to be the entire culmination of the Marvel cinematic universe and, in many ways, the end to that part of it. But we don’t even have the first draft in on that script yet; we’re still in the outline phase. It’s hard not to talk about it too specifically now only because of spoilers but also because we’re still figuring it out."
The end of the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Well, probably the latest phase at any rate, but the line does suggest that the next mega team-up could be further away. And certainly, with "Doctor Strange," "Black Panther," "Inhumans," "Spider-Man," and more on deck, the focus is shifting away from the first core of Marvel heroes to a new breed. It might mean another Avengers movie will be a long time coming, or at least in the version we’re familiar with.

However, just because there will be some new characters to play with for ‘Infinity War’ doesn’t mean the directors will use everything at their disposal. Spider-Man’s involvement is "to be determined" according to Joe, but for those worrying about the costume as seen in the latest ‘Civil War’ trailer, don’t fret, because "there is still effects work that needs to be done on it."
"At the end of the day, the purpose here is to deliver a Spider-Man that people will **** themselves over," Joe added.
But before you get too far ahead of things, ‘Civil War’ is coming and the longest Marvel movie yet will have some traditional goodies for you to enjoy during and after the credits. "We can’t say who is going to be in it but we can say that there certainly could be one, or two, maybe three. We can confirm that you should stay sat in your seats when the movie is done," Joe teased.
"Captain America: Civil War" opens on May 6th.
