"It’s always about the material and the interesting role. I like to do things that are different or that challenge me, but I don’t necessarily look for that first. It’s more about the script as a whole," Elisabeth Moss recently told us about how she chooses roles and what drew her to "Queen Of Earth." "This one was very enticing because it was extremely dramatic and emotional. I think a lot of actors would agree with me: that’s the stuff you look for. If everything is going fine, it’s boring. It’s definitely more interesting to play towards conflict and complexity. For me, that was definitely a huge draw."
Indeed, her second collaboration with director Alex Ross Perry couldn’t be more different than her first turn as the put upon girlfriend in "Listen Up, Philip." Here, Moss takes a lead role opposite Katherine Waterston in a Roman Polanski-esque dramatic thriller about two pals who go on a retreat to a cabin, only to discover there is much underneath the surface of their friendship waiting to be discovered. In this scene, we see Moss breaking down after a particularly difficult phone call.
