Bryan Cranston And James Franco Team For Comedy 'Why Him?'

Bryan Cranston James FrancoWhile we can’t say we’re surprised by anything James Franco does at this point, Bryan Cranston is another matter. He still seems to be choose his roles with care and so it’s a bit surprising to see him team up for what Franco for what sounds like a pretty broad comedy, but then again, this is the guy who spent years doing "Malcolm In The Middle."

Variety reports that the duo will appear in "Why Him?" John Hamburg ("Along Came Polly," "I Love You, Man") will direct the movie and is co-writing a new draft of the original script by Nicholas Stoller ("Get Him To The Greek," "The Five-Year Engagement") about a Dad who winds up in a feud for his daughter’s heart with her tech billionaire boyfriend. So I presume lots of old vs. new technology jokes will ensue or something.

No word yet on when cameras might roll but Franco and Cranston are already good buds, working together on the former’s forthcoming "In Dubious Battle."
