The old adage is that sex complicates friendship, but that’s probably doubly true when the pals in question are bonafide sex addicts. The rom-com genre gets a naughty twist with the upcoming "Sleeping With Other People," and a new red band trailer has arrived that’s just NSFW-enough that you might want to close the office door.
Jason Sudeikis and Alison Brie lead the latest from Leslye Headland (“Bachelorette”) that follows a couple of former sexual partners who reconnect at a meeting for sex addicts. Their friendship reignites, but becomes a bit more complex once they realize there are some real emotions brewing beyond a genital attraction. Here’s the official synopsis:
Years after impulsively losing their virginity to each other in college, Lainey (Alison Brie) and Jake (Jason Sudeikis) meet at a support group in New York (“What’s a nice girl like you doing at a sex addicts meeting?”). A spark resurfaces, but they’ve walked this road before. Abject failures in romance who lead lives of serial infidelity and self-sabotage, they agree to a platonic friendship to mutually support their recovery—and what’s more supportive than teaching your friend proper self-stimulation? Can love bloom while you’re sleeping with other people?
