Jennifer Lawrence To Star In Former Phil Lord & Chris Miller Movie ‘The Rosie Project’

The Rosie Project Jennifer LawrenceThe idea of Phil Lord and Chris Miller going off and making a romantic dramedy is pretty quaint considering how in demand they are for Hollywood blockbuster. And given that they’ve just been handed the "Star Wars" Young Han Solo spinoff, it’s likely they’re not going to be out of the tentpole world for a while. But last fall, they flirted with "The Rosie Project," and while they are no longer involved, another big name has become attached.

THR reports that Jennifer Lawrence will star in the movie. Penned by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber ("The Spectacular Now," "The Fault In Our Stars"), and based on Graeme Simsion‘s bestselling book, the screwball story follows a scientist who thinks he’s put together the formula for the perfect match until he meets someone who turns his whole theory upside down. Here’s the book synopsis:

The art of love is never a science: Meet Don Tillman, a brilliant yet socially inept professor of genetics, who’s decided it’s time he found a wife. In the orderly, evidence-based manner with which Don approaches all things, he designs the Wife Project to find his perfect partner: a sixteen-page, scientifically valid survey to filter out the drinkers, the smokers, the late arrivers.

Rosie Jarman possesses all these qualities. Don easily disqualifies her as a candidate for The Wife Project (even if she is “quite intelligent for a barmaid”). But Don is intrigued by Rosie’s own quest to identify her biological father. When an unlikely relationship develops as they collaborate on The Father Project, Don is forced to confront the spontaneous whirlwind that is Rosie―and the realization that, despite your best scientific efforts, you don’t find love, it finds you.

The hunt is on for a director at the moment, with the movie set up over at Columbia Pictures.
