Word recently surfaced that Marvel wants Jason Statham to play Bullseye in their "Daredevil" series on Netflix. That may or may not be so, but what is clear is that Statham likes his action authentic and gritty, not dressed up with CGI and played by people who couldn’t survive stubbing their toe on set.
Chatting with Italian outlet I 400 Calci, the actor made clear his distaste for action that leans heavily on special effects. “I could take my grandma and put her in a cape, and they’ll put her on a green screen and they’ll have stunt doubles come in and do all the action. Anybody can do it,” he said. “They’re relying on stunt doubles, and green screen, and $200 million budgets, it’s all CGI created. To me, it’s not authentic.” Uh oh, shots fired.
But the action star does have a point. A deluge of CGI rarely feels memorable, and one only has to look at "Mad Max: Fury Road" or Christopher Nolan‘s ‘Dark Knight’ films to see that more practical approaches tend to get the most chatter. Because let’s face it, no one is really talking about the action scenes from "Avengers: Age Of Ultron."
