While the trailers for Christopher Nolan’s “Inception” have managed to be incredibly intriguing while giving very little way, one of the elements that have made them so exciting is the commissioned tracks by Mike Zarin (who did the music for the teaser) and Zack Hemsey (who did the excellent “Mind Heist” piece for the last trailer). Propulsive and magnetic, their work helped draw us in to the twisty world presented in those spots in a way that rarely happens with trailers.
Well, details on the the twelve track soundtrack release have emerged, and it will focus on Hans Zimmer compositions for the film, which as we revealed earlier this year, is an electronic heavy score with with none other than Johnny Marr on guitar. We’re slightly disappointed Hemsey and Zarin didn’t get their due on the official tracklist for the soundtrack of “Inception.” Perhaps Warner Bros. can at least get them some kind of digital copy, bonus track release deal? Their pieces are really some of the best stuff we’ve heard all year and were an integral part in building up the buzz around those trailers.
The soundtrack will hit stores on July 13th and we don’t think we need to remind you “Inception” opens a few days alter on July 16th. Full tracklisting and a brief sample of Zimmer’s score below.
