So… are quirky art world dramedies a thing now? This year alone "Monuments Men" and Tim Burton‘s upcoming "Big Eyes" hit theaters, and in just a few months Ryan Reynolds and Helen Mirren will get together for "Woman In Gold." The first trailer has arrived today.
The movie is the latest from Simon Curtis ("My Week With Marilyn") and tells the true story of a Holocaust survivor who brought a case against the Austrian government to recover paintings stolen by the Nazis, the most famous of which was Gustav Klimt‘s "The Woman in Gold" aka "The Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I." This is certainly a lot quirkier and quippier than we were expecting, although there’s still some heart-stirring sentiment.
Co-starring Daniel Bruhl, "Woman In Gold" opens on April 25th. [THR]
