Are audiences going to want to sing this holiday season with "Into The Woods"? There will be plenty of competition. "The Hobbit: The Battle Of Five Armies," "Night At The Museum: Secret Of The Tomb," and "Paddington" will all serve as distractions for Disney‘s key demographic, and then of course there’s "Annie," which will be belting it out as well. But the mouse house hopes the stars of "Into The Woods" will do all the talking, or rather, singing, required to get ticket buyers to line up.
Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, James Corden, Anna Kendrick, Chris Pine, Tracey Ullman, Christine Baranski and Johnny Depp lead this adaptation of Stephen Sondheim‘s musical that brings together Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Rapunzel in this Avengers-esque, multipack of bedtime favorites. But will moviegoers be willing to go along with an all-song poke at their nostalgic favorites? We’ll see, but this was a big hit on Broadway, so if that crowd digs it, then the film version should catch on. Also: Meryl Streep Singing will be headline enough to get folks in the door.
"Into The Woods" opens on Christmas Day. Watch below.
