Jerry Seinfeld Says 'Portlandia' Is "The Best Comedy On TV Right Now" And "One Of The Best Comedies Of All Time”

Portlandia Jerry SeinfeldHaving created, starred in and written one of the best sitcoms of all time with "Seinfeld," comedian Jerry Seinfeld knows a few things about making people laugh. Moreover, he knows the insane amount of work it takes to get a joke right, and will tinker with material sometimes for years (see below) before even trying it on in public. So when he decides to lavish praise on a show, you know he’s not throwing it out there lightly.

Speaking with Vulture, Seinfeld said Carrie Brownstein and Fred Armisen‘s IFC series "Portlandia" was "beyond brilliant," and he found some parallels with his own work on "Seinfeld."

“You know what they’re really good at? We kind of did this on my show: They’ve got extremely mean waiters, and random people who are really mean for no reason," he said. "I love it when people are difficult and hostile for absolutely no reason. I don’t know why, but that’s really funny.”

Not only is the show really funny, for Seinfeld, it’s at the top of the heap right now for comedy on the small screen. “I think that’s the best comedy on TV right now, and it’s easily one of the best comedies of all time,” he stated. Damn. Look like the little show poking fun at a corner of the country has attracted the attention of the one of the biggest comedy names ever. Not too bad for a sketch show riffing on goofy hipster culture.
